Murat is one of the design leads of MUUM who is deeply involved in the delivery of projects in many different sectors, taking a truly hands-on approach and also, he is responsible for the strategic direction of all parts of the practice and ensuring the whole team is well focussed and motivated to deliver a high-quality service. Murat completed his undergraduate studies at the architecture department of Istanbul Technical University (ITU), and he received his master’s degree with a thesis on “Post Occupancy Evaluation of Office Buildings” in 2000 at the same institution. After graduation in 1995, he worked in Russia and Kazakhstan. In 1997, he returned to Istanbul and collaborated with Umut Iyigün in competitions and many projects. After completion of the ING BANK Headquarters (was Ottoman Bank at that time), he founded MUUM with Umut İyigün in Istanbul in 1998. His recent projects include “Headquarters of Doğuş Automotive”, “Ronesans Office Building” and “Microsoft Technology Centre” in Istanbul. As of 2018, he moved to London to establish MUUM’s UK extension. He is currently sharing his time between the UK and Turkey to oversee MUUM’s projects worldwide.
